It’s not about what we deserve, it’s about grace. We don’t deserve it but we get it anyway. You know Jesus was not alone when he was dying on the cross. There were two criminals that were there with him.
One of them said to Jesus kind of making fun of him, “If you are the son of God prove it by saving yourself and us too while you are at it!” The other criminal shouts the guy down and said, “Wait a minute we are getting what we deserve, this guy, Jesus, he didn’t do anything wrong. Then he says to Jesus, “Remember me when you come into your kingdom”. So Jesus replied, Today you shall be with me in paradise”.
Jesus did not ask him what he had done to get crucified or ask him if he was sorry. All he had to do was believe that Jesus was the Son of God. Luke 23:32-55
