After a seemingly long winter here in Michigan Spring is here at last. The weather is warmer and the birds are singing; the trees are once again providing a nice cool green canopy for a picnic on the grass on those warm summer days. You know, Michigan winters can be especially burdensome with the lack of sunshine. Vitamin D is scarce in those winter months, and depression can also set in. The sunshine makes as happy if it’s not in our eyes when trying to drive to work in morning. God made the light (Gen 1:3), he made the seasons and he made trees and all the beautiful plants of the earth (Gen 1:11).
Metaphorically Spring can mean the end of a sickness we went through or hard times. In the “Winter” of our hard times we look to God to bring some Spring back our lives. We hope, we pray, we wait for winter to pass, and we praise God in Jesus name that he brought us through a dark time in our lives. In fact, as a believer in Christ Jesus, we have the hope that one day we will be with him and this gives us the strength and courage to face any trial or tribulation with his assurance. Jesus’ assurance that “your sorrow will turn into joy” allows us to live in hope. (John 16:20)
Thank you Lord for Spring! Most of all thank you for your son Jesus who saves us from our sins and gives us the hope that we will make it to the other side of “Winter”!
